Trombone Lessons
We specialise in tailored trombone tuition for all ages and levels, whether you're picking up the instrument for the first time, preparing for exams, or building ensemble and jazz skills.

Students progress from Foundation (posture, embouchure, slide positions, simple tunes) through Intermediate (ABRSM Grades 1–5, ensemble playing) to Advanced (jazz technique, improvisation, diploma prep) and Specialist level (orchestral excerpts, audition preparation). Lessons suit children aged 8 and up, teenagers, adult returners, and jazz or classical enthusiasts preparing for exams or auditions.
Our tutors have specialist conservatoire or university training and years of experience teaching brass instruments, with a strong local reputation and track record of exam success across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and the Borders.
The trombone is unique among brass instruments in using a slide rather than valves to change pitch, a mechanism largely unchanged since its Renaissance-era ancestor, the sackbut. That slide technique takes a little longer to master than valved brass, but our structured Foundation-to-Specialist pathway means adult beginners and retirees progress at a pace that suits them.
